We went to Sunny Sushi. A small Japanese Restaurant in a strip mall. They start you off with edamame. We ordered a California roll to start. The roll was very fresh. They do have a sushi bar in the restaurant. My son got the Tempura Udon which is a big bowl of noodles and soup with tempura on the side. He said it was good. Hubby got the teriyaki chicken tempura combo that came with rice, salad and miso soup. He said the chicken was OK. I got the teriyaki salmon gyoza combo that came with rice, salad and miso soup. The food is good and the prices are reasonable.

Phantom Fireworks
This year my son's Boy Scout Troop was selling Phantom Fireworks. This is the first time I have heard of them. They have a lot of buy one get 1 deals on their smaller fireworks. We bought some of their fireworks to help out the troop and to see how they compare to TNT which we usually buy. The smaller items are not as good. A lot of the Morning Glory sparklers were hard to light. The bigger grand finale items are much better. The ones that we liked that put on a good show were the Volcanic Vortex cones and the New York Harbor Fountain. The Volcanic Vortex cones shot lots of sparks and crackles and seemed to last for quite a while, though they lacked color. The Tank W/R's were cool but some of them were duds. Those tanks sold out really quick. For the finale the New York Harbor fountain was spectacular! Almost continuous showers of stars, multicolored sparks, some loud whistles and lots of crackle. It was almost overwhelming. Loved it!

Second Food Strike Event
We went to our second Food Strike Event last Saturday, after missing last months event due to rain. This time it was dry and not yet dark at 7:00pm. The gourmet food trucks that were there were An The Go, Speedy Panini, Koja Kitchen, Naked Chorizo, Sanguchon, Hapa SF, Pacific Puffs, The Chairman and Anglica's Taqueria.
My son and I decided to try the Korean BBQ beef from Koja Kitchen with sautéed onions, Japanese seasoned romaine lettuce, drizzled with their signature sauce sandwiched between two toasted rice patties. The Korean BBQ beef was so yummy and flavorful it was almost orgasmic. For dessert Mochimisu a tiramisu dessert with house made chocolate mochi morsels among the layers of soaked lady fingers and mascarpone, topped with cocoa powder and an elegant chocolate-dipped strawberry.
Hubby went to the An The Go. He has a strange philosphy that he can't get the same thing as me. He had the garlic noodles combo with lemon grass beef skewers and coconut prawns. My son and I had the noodles and the lemongrass beef the last time we went to the this event. The garlic noodles are very garlicky and yummy and the lemongrass beef is so tender and flavorful. Hubby didn't give me a taste of his coconut prawns though but he said it was good, kind of like a flaky tempura.

La Mordida Taqueria
The other night we had dinner at La Mordida Taqueria. This restaurant just opened up a few weeks ago in a former Taco Bell used to be. They took out the old bench tables and wall that separated the tables from where you order and put in new tables and chairs. The new arrangement makes the small restaurant look a little bigger. There are a lot of items on their menu to order. I ordered the 2 item combination plate which had rice, beans, salad and I chose a carne asada taco and tostada. The taco and tostada were really good. The salad, rice and beans were also good. My son got a super carne asada burrito which was huge. He said the meat was really tender and the burrito was really good. He took half of it home and had it for lunch the next day. Hubby got the 2 item combination plate with a fish taco and an enchilada. He really liked the fish taco. The enchilada was good.

Big Mouth Burgers
After weighing in at Weight Watchers my son and I were hungry so we ate dinner at Big Mouth Burgers. I know probably not a good idea but hey we were starving. After WW meeting my son wanted to go to Game Stop so after we finished getting his game at Game Stop, which is near Big Mouth Burgers it smelled so good, we decided to eat there. I called up hubby and asked him if he wanted to meet us there. It was crowded so we when we ordered our food we got it to go. I think everyone got there at the same time. While were waiting a table opened up so we sat down to wait for our food. The boy watched the World Series on the big screen TV hanging on the wall while we waited for our food. When the food arrived we ate it there since we were already sitting at a table. Hubby and I split a Big Mouth Burger no cheese and the french fries and our son got the small Big Mouth Burger off the kids menu. I had a chocolate shake made with dark chocolate that was really good. I have never had a shake made with dark chocolate before. Hubby got a root beer float and the boy got a coke. The hamburger was moist and juicy and really flavorful and the fries were soft and yummy. They were cooked perfectly with a little bit of skin on them. Big Mouth Burgers has three restaurants in my area. We will definitely eat there again. They have an extensive menu with something for everyone.

Sam's Chowder House
Hubby, son and I went for a bike ride this afternoon. After we finished our bike ride we ate dinner at Sam's Chowder House. This is the first time we have eaten there. Even at 7:00 it was very busy. The wait for an inside table was half an hour. They had outside tables so we ate outside since it was a nice day. It was really nice but towards the end of our meal it got a little cool out. So we had clam chowder to start that we shared. It was really good even the boy liked it. I had a BBQ Braised Pork Shoulder on a bed of Italian swiss chard and polenta chips which is a rectangle of polenta that is fried. The pork was tender and tasty. There was a lot of swiss chard. Nothing beats a slow cooked pork shoulder. Hubby got the Lobster sandwich which was good that came with potato chips and coleslaw. The boy got grilled Salmon fillet on a bed of corn and spinach. He liked his salmon. I tried the Salmon and the Lobster sandwich and they were both good. The restaurant is a little expensive but it is really good and they give good size portions. A perfect ending to a gorgeous day. We will definitely go back but we will make reservations the next time.

Heirloom Tomato, Basil and Mozzarella Pizza
Hubby and I were shopping at Lunardi's and saw they had heirloom tomatoes so we bought some. We have been wanting to try them. I didn't know what I was going to do with them. I was watching TV and a commercial game on for Round Tables heirloom tomato flat bread that looked really good. I decided to make heirloom tomatoes, mozzarella and basil pizza for dinner tonight. I made the pizza dough in the bread machine. I cut up tomatoes, basil and mozzarella. I also cut up some shallots and caramelized them. After the pizza dough was done, I divided the dough into two. I stretched the dough out then I brushed it with olive oil, then layered with mozzarella, tomatoes, added salt and pepper, basil, caramelized onions and some more mozzarella on top. The second one I added pepperoni because hubby wanted pepperoni on one. I baked the pizzas for 20 minutes. They were so good. The tomatoes were sweet, the basil and mozzarella complimented each other and the caramelized onions just topped it off. I will definitely make this pizza again when the heirloom tomatoes are in season.
